LOCAL INSIGHT

Atlanta has 3.1 million jobs and four counties to reach

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 3,105,100 nonfarm jobs in the Atlanta area in August 2026, including 644,300 in trade, transportation and utilities and 563,900 in professional and business services. The area spans Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, where first quarter 2026 average weekly wages were $1,734 against $1,654 nationally. A small business here is one of thousands in any search, and customers pick by county and neighborhood.

Hartsfield-Jackson is the single biggest job center. Its 2020 impact study, using fiscal 2017 data, counted 63,329 on airport workers and an $82 billion impact, and called it the largest job center in Georgia. Georgia had 19 Fortune 500 companies on the 2023 list, 17 of them in metro Atlanta, including Delta, Home Depot and Coca-Cola, and Assurant moved its headquarters to Cobb County. Vendors and consultants that sell to large companies are judged on how credible they look when a buyer checks them.

Rankwyre builds websites and web apps and CRMs for Atlanta firms, then runs SEO that targets the county or neighborhood where a customer actually searches, from the airport corridor to Cobb County offices.
