The Chair
A River North barbershop with a serious reputation and a website that gave none of it away.
The Chair is a barbershop on North Franklin Street in River North, Chicago. The work coming out of the shop was excellent and the reviews backed it up, but the website was a stock template carrying another barbershop's branding, a wrong social link, and an ad script that had no business being there.
The brief was to make the site feel like the room: dark, warm, and confident, with booking never more than one tap away.
Design Approach
We built a dark editorial system around the shop's own photography, with real portraits of the barbers taken inside the shop rather than stock faces. Type does the heavy lifting, depth comes from hairlines instead of shadows, and the whole thing opens with a hand-drawn signature that writes itself before the page lifts into view.
The Experience
The full services menu is on the page with real prices, so nobody has to guess what a cut costs. Hours highlight the current day, the map is embedded, and every booking route leads to the shop's Squire page. A floating book button follows you down the page on mobile.
Outcome
The shop now has a site that matches the standard of the work, with the borrowed template branding, the stray ad script, and the wrong social link all gone. Services, prices, barbers, and hours are accurate and easy to keep that way.
