LOCAL INSIGHT

Alabama has eleven metro areas and a big rural business base

Alabama had 465,610 small businesses in 2022, and 390,228 of them had no employees, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration's 2025 state profile. Among businesses the Census could place by location, 150,926 were rural and 261,048 were urban. The Bureau of Labor Statistics lists 11 metro areas in the state, from Huntsville and Birmingham to Mobile, Dothan and Florence-Muscle Shoals. A business there mostly competes for customers inside its own metro or county, so its pages and listings need to name that place.

Manufacturing is the third largest job sector, at 281,900 of 2.22 million nonfarm jobs in August 2026 (preliminary), behind government and trade, transportation and utilities. The state commerce department promotes aerospace, automotive and defense. Growth is uneven. A 2025 PARCA analysis found Huntsville added 3,280 residents and neighboring Madison 4,157, while Birmingham lost almost 900 as growth moved to its suburbs. A shop in Madison or Athens should not depend on the big city next door to be found.

Rankwyre builds websites and sets up Google Maps and local listings for Alabama businesses that serve one suburb or one county, from Madison to Mobile. The work is done remotely and the price is the same as anywhere else.

HOW WE WORK

How we work with Alabama businesses.

Whether your Alabama business is on the coast or inland, the project runs the same four ways.

  1. Pin down the scope.

A short call first, then a price in writing. We will not begin building until that price is agreed.

  2. Drafts on the way.

We build in stages and show you previews, so you see the site grow rather than waiting for the end.

  3. Reach nearby searchers.

Google Business Profile, local listings and service-area pages are set up to bring in people searching near you.

  4. Launch with support.

About 7 days to go live. Hosting and updates come with the plan, and support does not stop at launch.
