LOCAL INSIGHT

Connecticut businesses sit next to Massachusetts and Rhode Island

The U.S. Small Business Administration counts 381,129 small businesses in Connecticut, employing 726,097 people or 48.1 percent of the workforce. Professional, scientific and technical services is the largest group at 58,166 firms, followed by real estate at 42,004. The Bureau of Labor Statistics lists metros that cross state lines, including Springfield and Worcester in Massachusetts and Norwich-New London with Rhode Island, next to Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Hartford, New Haven, Danbury and Waterbury. A business near a border serves customers in two states, so its pages should name the towns on both sides.

Education and health services is the largest job sector, 385,300 of 1.73 million jobs in August 2026 (preliminary), and manufacturing added 3.0 percent over twelve months to 156,600. Financial activities fell 2.1 percent. The unemployment rate was 5.1 percent. Connecticut firms also export, with 5,237 identified firms shipping $15.0 billion in goods in 2023, 87.2 percent of them small. Private establishments gained 81,169 jobs and lost 80,578 in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Rankwyre builds websites and web apps and CRMs for Connecticut firms in Hartford, New Haven, Stamford and beyond, remotely and at the same price as everywhere else.

  2. Check the drafts.

We build in drafts and share previews at each point, which keeps you in control of the design.

  3. Appear in nearby searches.

Google Business Profile, local listings and service-area pages go up so people near you can find the business.

  4. Launch and look after.

Your site goes live in about 7 days, with hosting and updates included and support afterwards.
