CASE STUDY

Barbershop Website Design

The Chair had a reputation built on the work coming out of the chair and a website wearing another shop's branding. The redesign gives the room online what it already has in person, dark, warm and confident.

  • Squire booking on every page
  • Service cards with duration and price
  • Real photos of the shop

THE CHALLENGE

Where it started

The Chair is a barbershop on North Franklin Street in River North, Chicago, with work that earns its reviews and a website that gave none of it away. The site was a stock template still carrying another barbershop's branding, a social link that pointed to the wrong account, and an ad script that had no reason to be on the page in the first place.

None of that matched a shop booked solid on reputation alone. The brief was to make the site feel like the room, dark, warm and confident, with booking never more than one tap away no matter which page a visitor landed on first.

WHAT THEY NEEDED

A barbershop site has to get someone from the homepage to a booked chair fast.

A shop with its own name and its own following cannot keep running on another barbershop's logo and social link. Visitors need to land on a site that is unmistakably The Chair, with real photos taken from inside the actual shop.

On mobile most decisions happen in seconds, so the booking button needs to follow the visitor down the page instead of waiting at the top of the screen where it quickly gets scrolled past and forgotten.

A customer choosing between a cut and a cut with a beard trim wants to see the price and the time it takes right there, before they ever commit to booking either one on Squire.

STRATEGY & EXECUTION

Here is what we built for The Chair.

Dark Editorial Design System

The new site is built around the shop's own photography, real portraits of the barbers taken inside the shop rather than stock faces pulled from a template, with depth coming from hairline borders instead of shadows or gradients. The result reads as confident and considered, the same way the room itself feels the moment you walk through the door.

Squire Booking Throughout

Every booking route on the site leads to the shop's existing Squire page, placed in the header, repeated inside the service cards and built into a floating button that follows visitors down the page on mobile, so booking is never more than a single tap away no matter where someone lands or how far down the page they have scrolled.

Full Services Menu With Pricing

Each service appears on its own card with the duration, a short description and the price listed plainly, so a visitor knows exactly what a cut costs and how long it takes before they ever open the booking page to confirm anything, instead of guessing, calling to check first, or walking in blind and hoping for the best.

Hours And Location On The Page

The shop's hours highlight the current day automatically and a map to the shop's North Franklin Street address is embedded directly on the page, so a visitor deciding whether to walk in does not have to leave the site to check either detail, even from a phone standing outside at night deciding whether it is worth the trip.

Removed What Did Not Belong

The borrowed template branding, the stray ad script and the wrong social link are gone from every page, along with anything else left over from the generic template the shop happened to start on before the redesign, so nothing on the finished site points anywhere but back to The Chair itself, its own barbers and its own room.

Search-Ready From Day One

The site adapts cleanly from desktop to tablet to phone, staying readable and deliberate on whatever device your visitors reach for.

Optimised images, lean code, and careful loading keep the experience fast and Core Web Vitals in the green, so nothing bounces.

Clear hierarchy and well-placed calls to action guide visitors toward the next step, turning casual browsing into real enquiries.

A technically sound foundation with clean structure and metadata helps the site get found and rank for the terms that matter.

THE RESULT

The shop now has a site that matches the standard of the work.

Unmistakably The Chair

The borrowed branding and the wrong social link are gone, replaced by real photography from inside the shop, so the site finally looks like the room that customers actually walk into.

Booking One Tap Away

A floating book button follows visitors down the page on mobile and every service card links straight to Squire, so booking never waits for a visitor to hunt around the site to find it.

Prices And Hours You Trust

Every service lists its duration and price, and the hours on the page highlight the current day, so nobody has to call the shop just to ask what something costs or whether it is open.

Nothing Left From The Template

The stray ad script and the leftover branding from the shop's old template are gone entirely, so the site carries nothing that was not built specifically for The Chair, right down to the smallest detail on the page.

FAQ'S

Questions about the The Chair project.

How long does a barbershop website take to build?

Most websites launch in about 7 days, and online stores in about 10. A barbershop website like The Chair's covers the dark editorial design, the service menu with pricing, Squire booking wired through the whole site and the mobile layout, so the shop is taking bookings through the new site.

Can the booking system stay the same one the shop already uses?

Yes. The Chair already booked through Squire, so the redesign kept it in place and moved it up front and throughout the site instead of replacing it, placing it in the header, on every service card and in a floating button that follows visitors on mobile all the way down the page.

Can service prices and hours go directly on the website?

Yes. Every service on The Chair's site lists its duration, a short description and its price, and the hours highlight the current day automatically, so visitors get exactly the information they need without ever having to call the shop first just to ask something simple that should already be on the page.
