CASE STUDY

Fragrance Brand Website Design

Velora sells directly to customers with one hero fragrance and a story worth telling, but nothing online said so. The new site reads as considered as the product inside the bottle, from the first scroll to checkout.

  • Editorial, type led identity

THE CHALLENGE

Where it started

Velora is a brand and web project for a scent label that sells directly to customers, with a single hero fragrance and a story worth telling but nothing online that actually told it. The brand read as premium in person, in the bottle and the packaging, and generic on screen, a mismatch a direct to consumer brand cannot really afford when the product itself is the whole argument.

The site needed to rebuild the brand from the type up rather than decorate an existing template, so the store could behave like a lookbook a visitor slows down for instead of a page they scroll past on the way to somewhere else.

WHAT THEY NEEDED

A direct to consumer scent brand needs a site worth slowing down for.

A premium product deserves a typographic system considered enough to carry the brand on its own, not a template with the logo simply swapped in over it, section by section.

Visitors need a reason to slow down and scroll rather than add to cart on reflex, so the store has to lead with mood and texture before it asks for the sale.

A single hero fragrance today will not stay the only product for long, so the store needed a CMS that lets the team add new scents without rebuilding the site each time.

STRATEGY & EXECUTION

Here is what we built for Velora.

Type Led Editorial System

A quiet, editorial system lets the product breathe, built from the typography up rather than around an existing template, so the site leads with mood and texture before it ever earns the sale with the finer detail further down the page or deeper in the range of scents on offer and their stories, note by note.

Lookbook Style Browsing

The store behaves like a lookbook rather than a typical ecommerce grid, so visitors slow down, scroll and arrive at the buy button already convinced instead of comparison shopping purely on reflex the way they would elsewhere in the category of similar brands and similar bottles lined up on a shelf somewhere else entirely, store after store.

Range Built To Expand

The store is built so the range can expand cleanly from one hero fragrance to a full line, without the site ever needing a rebuild each time a new scent launches into the catalogue and needs its own dedicated page built for it, note by note, bottle by bottle, launch by launch, season by season.

A CMS The Team Can Use

A tidy content system lets the team update content, swap images and publish new pages without ever touching code or breaking the careful design sitting underneath the whole store as it grows scent by scent and season by season without missing a beat or a launch date on the calendar ever, year after year and launch after launch.

Zero Stock Templates

Every part of the identity, from the typography to the product photography treatment, was built specifically for Velora, with no stock ecommerce template hiding underneath any of it anywhere on the site, page by page and product by product across the whole range of fragrances currently offered for sale today and well into the future.

Search-Ready From Day One

Easy to Manage

The site adapts cleanly from desktop to tablet to phone, staying readable and deliberate on whatever device your visitors reach for.

Optimised images, lean code, and careful loading keep the experience fast and Core Web Vitals in the green, so nothing bounces.

Clear hierarchy and well-placed calls to action guide visitors toward the next step, turning casual browsing into real enquiries.

A technically sound foundation with clean structure and metadata helps the site get found and rank for the terms that matter.

A tidy CMS lets the team update content, swap images, and publish new pages without touching code or breaking the design.

THE RESULT

The store now feels as considered as the product inside the bottle.

A Type Led Identity

Velora's brand now carries its own considered typography and mood throughout, instead of reading as a generic scent label with a logo simply swapped in over someone else's layout and someone else's story.

A Store Worth Slowing For

The lookbook style browsing gets visitors to slow down and scroll before they buy, rather than skimming straight past on the way to somewhere else entirely more generic and forgettable.

Built To Grow

The store can expand cleanly as new fragrances launch, without needing a full rebuild each time the product line grows larger than the last one did, scent after scent and season after season.

Zero Stock Templates

Every part of the site was built specifically for Velora, with no stock ecommerce template carried over from anywhere else in the build, start to finish, page to page, product by product.

FAQ'S

Questions about the Velora project.

How long does it take to build an ecommerce site for a direct to consumer brand?

Most websites launch in about 7 days, and online stores in about 10. A brand and store project like Velora's covers the type led identity, the lookbook style browsing experience and a CMS built so the team can add new products themselves as the range grows over time, without ever needing a rebuild along the way.

Can an ecommerce store be built to grow beyond one product?

Yes. Velora launched with a single hero fragrance, so the store was built from the start to expand cleanly as new scents are added, without needing a rebuild each time the range grows larger than it was before, season after season, year after year, bottle after bottle and launch after launch.

What makes a store feel like a lookbook instead of a typical online shop?

Leading with mood, texture and editorial type instead of a standard product grid. Velora's store is built so visitors slow down and scroll before they buy, arriving at the purchase already convinced rather than comparison shopping purely on reflex the way they would elsewhere in the category of similar brands.
