LOCAL BUSINESS

Who does business in Providence

Providence County counted 16,414 business locations in 2023, down 25 from 16,439 in 2022. The total barely moved, so the interesting part is which sectors shifted underneath it.

  1. Construction and trades1,91212%
  2. Retail stores1,90412%
  3. Health care1,86111%
  4. Restaurants and hospitality1,80611%

Construction and trades is the biggest sector at 1,912 locations, 11.6% of the county against 12.0% across RI. It added 20 since 2022. We build websites for roofers for exactly that kind of work.

Health care holds 1,861 locations, 11.3% here and 10.7% across RI, and it gained 11 in a year. We make websites for dental practices that suit this side of the count.

Retail slipped by 19 to 1,904 and finance and insurance fell 21 to 833. Education grew fastest, from 256 locations to 263. Overall, 55% of locations have fewer than 5 employees.

LOCAL INSIGHT

Providence business sites need to work for Spanish speakers too

Providence had 194,706 residents in July 2024, up from 190,934 at the 2020 census, according to Rhode Island's Department of Labor and Training. The city's own comprehensive plan puts Hispanic residents at 43.9% of the population in 2020, and its existing conditions report counts 44,897 residents aged 18 to 64 who speak Spanish at home (2016 to 2020 survey data). A restaurant or repair shop here has a large Spanish speaking customer base, and its site and listing should read well for them.

Visitors matter too. The city's economic development plan estimates more than 7 million visitors in 2022 and close to $2 billion in traveler spending, with arts and culture adding over $200 million in Providence that year. It names events like WaterFire and PVD Fest as drivers of hospitality work. The same plan counts eight colleges, universities and satellite campuses, and the existing conditions report says nearly 30% of employed residents work in education, health and social services. Students and visitors search for a place to eat, shop or book a service before they arrive.

We build websites and online stores for Providence businesses, with Google Maps listings set up so a visitor in town for WaterFire or a student near campus sees accurate hours first.

HOW WE WORK

How we work with Providence businesses.

A project for a Providence County business moves through four stages, and each one has a fixed price and a clear finish line.

  1. Tell us what you sell.

A short call where you describe the business and what the site has to do. You get the price in writing before any work begins.

  2. Drafts you can mark up.

We build the pages and send a preview early. You point at what's wrong, we fix it, and nothing goes live until you say so.

  3. Show up when people search.

Your Google Business Profile, local listings and service-area pages get set up so nearby customers can find the business by name or by trade.

  4. Go live, then keep going.

Launch, hosting and updates are included. After launch you can reach us for changes, and the site stays maintained.

Online stores start at $499 a month plus a $499 setup, and a store launches in about 10 days. There is no contract and you can cancel anytime. Prices are the same everywhere.
