LOCAL INSIGHT

Knoxville's biggest payrolls sit in several counties, not one

The East Tennessee Economic Development Agency's 2025 employer list shows how far the Knoxville region spreads. Covenant Health is the only employer in the 10,000 plus tier. Knox County Schools, the University of Tennessee Knoxville, the state's flagship land grant university, and UT Medical Center sit in the next tier inside Knox County. Y-12 and Oak Ridge National Laboratory are in Roane County, Denso is in Blount County, and Dollywood is in Sevier County. A shop or clinic in Knoxville draws customers and staff from all of those places, so it needs to appear in searches that name Oak Ridge or Blount County, not only Knoxville.

The Knoxville Chamber's June 2026 report put the metro labor force at 467,886 in May 2026, with 263,267 of those workers in Knox County. The metro unemployment rate was 2.7%, Knox County's was 2.5%, and the metro had 9,103 new job postings that month. With hiring that active, owners compete for staff as well as customers, and a clear site helps with both.

Rankwyre builds websites and sets up Google Maps and local listings for Knoxville businesses that serve more than one county. For a contractor working between Oak Ridge, Blount County and Sevier County, that means a page for each service area, listings that match where the crew actually drives, and hosting and maintenance handled in the plan.

HOW WE WORK

How we work with Knoxville businesses.

The route from first call to a live Knox County site has four stops. Each is priced up front.

  1. Define it together.

A short call covers what you offer and what the site should do. After that, we write up the price for you to approve.

  2. Review as it builds.

We show previews while the pages are still taking shape. Your edits go in before the design is called finished.

  3. Findable by neighbors.

A Google Business Profile, local listings and service-area pages get set up for the searches nearby people run.

  4. Public launch, steady care.

The site launches, and hosting and updates are included. Questions after launch go straight to us.
