LOCAL INSIGHT

Huntington customers come from West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky

Huntington sits where three states meet on the Ohio River. The Port of Huntington Tri-State stretches across 100 miles of the Ohio, 9 miles of the Big Sandy and 90 miles of the Kanawha, and in 2019 Army Corps data it moved 36.8 million short tons, which made it the busiest inland port in the country by freight volume. Suppliers and buyers on both sides of the state lines use the same stretch of river. Search engines show results by where the searcher stands, so a business here has to be findable from three states.

Health care and Marshall University carry much of the local payroll. A March 2021 list from WorkForce West Virginia ranked Mountain Health Network, Marshall University and the Cabell County Board of Education as Cabell County's three largest employers. In 2023, Marshall Health Network was the fourth largest private employer in West Virginia, and Cabell Huntington Hospital now has 313 beds. Patients, students and visiting families search on the way to appointments, so hours, directions and services need to be correct online.

Downtown is rebuilding around Pullman Square, an open air center built on the old Superblock, with Third Avenue storefronts filling in and planned walkways to link it to Heritage Station and to Marshall. Rankwyre builds websites and manages Google Maps and local listings for shops, practices and trades that want to be found by customers on both sides of the river.

HOW WE WORK

How we work with Huntington businesses.

Working with a Huntington business is a four part process, and you know the price before the first one starts.

  1. Start with a conversation.

We get on a short call, work out what the business needs, and give you the cost in writing before anything gets built.

  2. See it before it is final.

You review a preview as the pages come together, and we change what does not look right before moving on.

  3. Be findable nearby.

Google Business Profile, local listings and pages for the areas you serve, so searches close to you lead to you.

  4. Launch and keep going.

We put the site live in about 7 days. Hosting and updates are covered, and we are around after launch.

BEFORE YOU ASK

Questions from Huntington businesses

How did Cabell County's business base change in a year?

The Census counts 2,331 business locations in 2023 and 2,327 in 2022, a change of 4. Some sectors moved more than that: construction and trades gained 6 while professional services lost 3.

What other West Virginia areas are covered?

Charleston and Morgantown both have their own pages here. We build for businesses nationwide, with websites at $399 a month plus $299 setup, stores at $499 a month plus $499 setup, and SEO at $599 a month.

Does a Huntington business need separate pages for Ohio and Kentucky customers?

Not always, but a page for each town or area you serve helps people on both sides of the river find you. A standard website launches in about 7 days, from $399 a month plus a $299 one-time setup, with hosting, SSL and maintenance included and no contract. Prices are the same everywhere.
