LOCAL INSIGHT
Cheyenne runs on a missile base, data centers and one big rodeo week
In an April 2026 column, the president of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce credited Microsoft's Cheyenne facility as the first major project that set up the region's data center growth, noting Wyoming produces about twelve times more energy than it consumes. He also pointed to F.E. Warren Air Force Base, which oversees more than 150 missile sites across Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. Companies selling to a base or a data center build their reputation through credible, easy to read websites.
Cheyenne LEADS owns the 900 acre Cheyenne Business Parkway and the 740 acre North Range Business Park, and says it has recruited more than 80 companies and 5,000 jobs since 1986. Cheyenne Frontier Days is the other big swing. The 2024 event brought about $50.4 million of visitor spending, 660 jobs and 550,000 total guests, though only about 150,000 were unique visitors. In 2025 one restaurant reported about 2.5 times its normal volume instead of the 4 to 5 times it was used to. A business that makes most of its year in ten days needs to hold on to those new customers afterward.
Rankwyre builds Cheyenne businesses a website and adds SEO so the people who find them during Frontier Days search for them again in August.
