LOCAL INSIGHT

Charleston's $14.35 billion tourism year starts online

Explore Charleston estimated tourism's economic impact at a record $14.35 billion for 2025, up 2.3 percent, supporting 55,500 jobs and accounting for 23.6 percent of regional sales. Visitor numbers were roughly flat, so the growth came from higher spending per visitor, and the airport handled a record 6.34 million passengers. A College of Charleston study of 2024 counted 7.89 million visitors, 70.6 percent hotel occupancy and top origin markets of Atlanta, New York City and Charlotte. Visitors who book from another city compare options online first.

The year round customer base is also large. The Charleston Regional Development Alliance lists Boeing South Carolina at 9,059 employees, the Medical University of South Carolina at about 17,000 people and Joint Base Charleston at nearly 25,000 military and civilian jobs, and it names Volvo Cars, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Bosch as major employers. The Alliance does not date those counts. Workers and base families search for services all year, so a business needs to be easy to find in both the busy season and the quiet one.

Rankwyre runs SEO and Google Maps and local listings for Charleston restaurants, tour operators and trades so they show up for the searches visitors and residents make.

HOW WE WORK

How we work with Charleston businesses.

From the first call to launch day, a Charleston County project follows the same four stages.

  1. Start with a short call.

We learn what the business sells and what the site should do. A written price follows, and nothing starts before you approve it.

  2. See a preview early.

Draft pages arrive while the build is still in progress. Your notes shape the final design, not the other way around.

  3. Rank for your own area.

Google Business Profile, local listings and service-area pages are set up so the business can appear when people nearby go looking.

  4. Launch plus the long run.

The site goes live in about 7 days. Hosting, updates and support after launch are part of the plan.
